About the Performer

Venkatesh Sivaraman (Venkat), ’20, has been a student of the piano since the age of three, and currently studies with David Deveau as an Emerson Fellow. He has presented solo repertoire in regional, state, and national piano competitions, including a performance in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. He has also performed as soloist in piano concertos by Mozart, Schumann, and Ravel, and recently the first movement of Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. Through the MIT Chamber Music Society, Venkat has performed every semester in piano trios by Brahms, Harbison, Shostakovich, and others. He has presented solo recitals for the past two years at MIT, featuring works by Ravel, Messiaen, Liszt, and Kirchner. Venkat is majoring in computational biology with a minor in music, currently works as a UROP student in the Keating Lab, and has developed an iOS app for MIT students to plan their courses called FireRoad.
