February 15 | Edward and Joyce Linde Music Building Open House & Concert
Noon into evening. This all-day event will feature Music & Culture workshops, open rehearsals, chamber performances, and culminate with an evening program in the Thomas Tull Concert Hall.
February 22 | Kinetic Ensemble Concert
7:30pm. Founded and directed by violinist Natalie Lin Douglas, Associate Professor of Music at MIT, the Kinetic Ensemble will visit MIT to share music inspired by human invention, cultural heritage, and the natural world.
March 1 | MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble featuring Lupe Fiasco
8pm. Grammy-winning internationally renowned rapper and MIT Visiting Professor Wasalu Jaco (aka Lupe Fiasco) presents the first installment of his ambitious project to create raps inspired by all public art at MIT in collaboration with the MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble which will also perform works inspired by visual art and artists.
March 2 | The Boston Symphony Chamber Players
5pm. A special concert with one of the world’s most distinguished chamber music ensembles comprised of first-chair string and wind players from the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
March 8 | Moon Medicin led by Sanford Biggers
6pm. An awe-inspiring performance by the Afro-futurist concept band led by the artist who created Madrigal, the outdoor sculpture on prominent display next to the Edward and Joyce Linde Music Building.
March 14 | Golden City Suite by Miguel Zenón
8pm. A musical tribute to the immigrant communities of San Francisco composed by alto saxophonist, Grammy-winner, MacArthur Genius, and Guggenheim Fellow Miguel Zenón, Assistant Professor of Music at MIT.
March 22 and March 23 | MITHAS South Asian Music Performance Series
6pm (Saturday) and 4pm (Sunday). A weekend of Indian classical music to celebrate some of the greatest talents in Hindustani and Carnatic music. These events will feature Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar, Amrutha Venkatesh, and more!
April 26 | MIT Chamber Chorus Spring Concert
8pm. A soul-stirring evening of aural entertainment by MIT’s select choral ensemble for advanced singers conducted by MIT's Director of Vocal Ensembles Ryan Turner.
May 3 | MITHAS South Asian Music Performance Series
6pm. A noteworthy concert featuring Shashank Subramaniam and Rakesh Chaurasia, two of the most prominent Indian flute players in the world!
May 4 | Rambax MIT Spring Concert
3pm. A riveting performance celebrating the art of sabar, a vibrant drum and dance tradition of the Wolof people of Senegal, West Africa.
May 10 | MIT Vocal Jazz Ensemble featuring Michael Mayo
7pm. A joyful evening of vocal stylings directed by MIT's Laura Grill Jaye featuring famed American singer, composer, and arranger Michael Mayo.
