The Second Annual Prism Concert Spectacular, a concert by the MIT Wind Ensemble, Frederick Harris, Jr. Music Director; Kenneth Amis, Assistant Conductor.  Works for full wind ensemble and brass, percussion, saxophone, and woodwind chamber ensembles are featured on this unique amalgam of music, lights, film, technology, and spacial inventiveness. The program includes Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy, Lyn Murray’s Ronald Searle Suite, composed for the 1957 film Energetically Yours (which will be shown), and music of Corelli, Gesulado, Prokofiev, Amis, Harris, and others.

NoteStream, a Real-Time Program Note Service, receives its world premiere. A development of the MIT Music Technology Lab in collaboration with the MIT Wind Ensemble, NoteStream will provide audience members with rich content about Lincolnshire Posy delivered to their mobile phones in sync with the live performance of the work. First-time listeners to Lincolnshire Posy may choose storyline messages focusing their attention on key musical moments and experienced listeners may gain new insights by following along with excerpts from the music score.

Musicians from Norwood (MA) High School and Newton (MA) South High School will perform on selected works as part of MITWE’s ongoing outreach efforts.

The concert will be streamed live here; NoteStream will be available to online viewers via mitwe.org.
