Are you interested in learning to play traditional "classical" music from middle eastern countries such as Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, and Armenia? Join the IAP Middle Eastern Music Ensemble! All instruments and vocalists welcome. We'll look at forms such as Sama'i, Bashraf, and Longa as well as touch upon maqam (melodic modes) and iqa'at (rhythmic modes). There will be opportunities to try traditional percussion instruments such as the riqq and doumbek as well as the oud.
