About the Performer

Hoon (Hyunghoon) Cho is a cello student from Seoul, South Korea. He is currently in the final year of his PhD studies at MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and successfully defended his thesis recently. He has been studying cello as an Emerson Scholar with Eugene Kim since 2015. During this period, he has been a regular member of the MIT Chamber Music Society and received further guidance from Marcus Thompson, Jean Rife, and David Deveau. He was also a cellist in the Stanford Symphony Orchestra in 2009-2010 and 2012. In July, he will be joining the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard as a Schmidt Fellow. He intends to continue studying cello outside of work.
