MTA celebrates several internal honors each year, coordinated by faculty in Music and Theater.  In lieu of a physical ceremony this page serves as a celebration of the many accomplishments our students achieved both in the 2019-2020 Academic Year as well as for the Class of 2020 and their contributions to the MTA community.

COMMENCEMENT

Noon–1 pm EDT: Pre-program show, hosted by MTA students Talia Khan ’20 and Yaateh Richardson ’20

The Pre-program will feature a wide variety of content including musical pieces from MTA ensembles

1–2 pm EDT: Online Commencement Program and Degree Conferral

2–3 pm EDT: Welcome into the MIT Alumni Association, scroll of graduates’ names, and post-program show

MIT Wind Ensemble opens MIT’s 2020 Commencement Ceremony with virtual performance of Sharifi’s To The Light, To The Flame

Over 80 MIT Wind Ensemble and MIT Wind Ensemble alumni from across the globe virtually perform MIT alumnus Jamshied Sharifi’s To The Light, To The Flame, at 1pm EST, Friday, May 29, 2020. The world premiere of the performance film directed by Jean Dunoyer of MIT Video Productions is inspired by the Mary Oliver poem The Summer Day. The music is “a meditation on the fragility of our lives,” notes Sharifi, “and on the need and wish and desire to live presently, fully, and with intention.
