About the Performer

Nanette Wu is a junior pursuing a dual degree in computer science and music. She grew up in Cupertino, California, where she studied with Michael Corner, principal clarinetist of Symphony Silicon Valley. Under his guidance, she performed with the California Youth Symphony and various all-state honor bands. At MIT, Nanette has been part of the MIT Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Music Technology Lab. She currently studies under Kristian Baverstam, principal clarinetist of the Boston Civic Symphony, through the Emerson Scholar program.

Outside of music, Nanette competes for the varsity swim team and teaches coding to middle school girls. She will be interning for a music tech start up this summer, and plans on starting her Masters of Engineering in EECS next year.

Nanette’s clarinet is named Clarinanette, and they are both thrilled to be performing in their first solo recital together.
