The wind trio “No Dogs Allowed,” celebrating its 50th anniversary, dates from a period when groups had names like that. Clarinetists Ray Jackendoff and Steve Umans and bassoonist Tom Stephenson met in the MIT Orchestra in the fall of 1966 and formed the trio shortly thereafter. Over the past half century, they have performed at MIT, Brandeis, Tufts, Harvard, and many other Boston-area venues, including boat cruises and weddings as well as live on WGBH radio. Bassoonist Shu Satoh is a relative newcomer, having played with the trio for only 20 or 25 years as Tom's schedule became increasingly busy. The group’s repertoire ranges from the 15th century Glogauer Liederbuch, through the Renaissance and the baroque and classical periods, to a wide range of pieces from the 20th century.
The concert program will include: Ignaz PLEYEL, Trio in E-flat; Francis POULENC, Sonata for clarinet, basset horn and bassoon; Ray JACKENDOFF, Trio No. 2 (1968); Swan HENNESSY, Trio, Op. 54.
