The MIT Balinese Gamelan Class and Community Gamelan

Artisitc Director, Gusti Komin

Balinese Gamelan, the traditional music of Bali, brings together a symphony of gongs, bronze metallophones and pots, hand drums and bamboo flutes, creating shimmering layers of rhythmically intricate, lyrical patterns. Community-oriented, infused with the vibrancy and deep spirit of Bali, gamelan in Bali is music intended to be played by and for everyone. MIT is fortunate to have a complete gamelan of traditional Balinese instruments and a Balinese Gamelan class taught by master Balinese musician and teacher, Gusti Komin.
