
Joseph Lark-Riley has worked as a freelance Scenic Designer and Technical Director with NOLA Project, Southern Rep Theatre, and True Brew Theatre (New Orleans); Prop Thtr, Brain Surgeon Theater, Curious Theater Branch, Factory Theatre, Trap Door Theatre, The Artistic Home, and Silent Theatre (Chicago); NAATCo, LookingGlass Theatre, Mabou Mines, and Anonymous Ensemble (New York); Butterfly Effect Theatre (Taipei); and The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse (Cocoa, FL).
With Liz Lark-Riley, Joseph co-founded miR theater in Rockledge, FL. From 2013-2015 miR served as a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and presentation of original theatrical tellings of local stories.
Since 2018, Joseph has been adapting and producing the early plays of Gertrude Stein. ‘Geography and Plays by Gertrude Stein’ (2019) and ‘Gertrude Stein’s Not Sightly, a play’ (2022) both premiered at the Orlando International Fringe Theater Festival. ‘A Charmingly Ironic Gesture of the Gods’ (2024) premiered at Rhino Fest in Chicago. Joseph is currently working on an animated film adaptation of Stein’s ‘Do Let Us Go Away, a play’, hand-rotoscoping video clips recorded by over 60 performers around the world during the 2020 pandemic lock-down.
In Massachusetts Joseph served as a Production Manager at Central Square Theater (2023-2024) and is currently the Resident Scenic and Sound Designer at Apollinaire Theatre.
