Student ushers are an important part of producing any MTA event! Ushering can be a great way to be involved in MTA while experiencing many of the different events offered throughout the year. In many cases, you are the first interaction our guests will have when arriving on campus to attend a concert or theatrical event. Student Ushers are the public face for Music and Theater Arts and should represent the professional standards of our institution and section. Ushers are primarily responsible for assisting patrons before and during performances and are prepared to act in emergencies. It is important that ushers are outgoing, friendly, have excellent customer service skills, and are able to handle responsibilities with little supervision.

MTA expects photographers to be punctual, present and properly dressed. Please use discretion when inside of the performance venue during the event to avoid disrupting the attendees/performers. Photographers must be available to work an entire event and cannot work a partial shift. Equipment will not be provided.
Event Schedule
Photographers are required to arrive at their call time (30-60 minutes prior to start of event) wearing all black or other dark colors. Use 30 minutes prior to event to photograph attendees in front of the lobby Step & Repeat. Be discreetly present in the performance space to photograph the performance without flash and will little to no shutter sound. Be present during intermission and after the event to photograph attendees and performers in front of the lobby Step & Repeat. Photographers will receive a follow up email to confirm their working schedule 4 weeks prior to the event.
Post-processing and Editing
The photographer will be paid for up to 2 hours of post-production and editing time. The final post production and editing styles, effects, and overall look of the images are left to the discretion of the photographer. MTA expects to receive photos from the photographer according to the following schedule:
Copyright
The photos taken and delivered may be reproduced by MIT Music & Theater Arts (MTA) to advertise MTA and MIT events. Upon final payment by MTA, copyright ownership of the resulting images will be transferred to MTA.
Payment
Photographers will be paid $25/hour worked photographing and post-processing upon the delivery of the agreed upon selection of photos. Photographer must submit a W-9 to be paid.
Additional Information
MTA cannot guarantee ideal lighting in any of our performance venues. Please be prepared to shoot in any lighting condition.
